Impact of Indoor Light Pollution on Human Phantasmagory and Imagination Capabilities

Arts & Sciences Symposium, http://usefulfictions/ucdavis.edu, Lab 4 Data Materia, with Didier Bouchon

Installation + Mock Academic Paper

Household indoor light pollution have not been studied yet.

Thus, various data set help us understand impact on human beings of indoor light pollution such as: lighting appliances consumption, blue light exposure at night, lumen per square meter in residential  homes and sleep data. These heterogeneous information have been analyzed through low-tech algorithms developed for this study.

As a result of our research, we identified humans as physiologically and metaphorically light sensitive beings. We acknowledge the lack of darkness in people’s lives worldwide with 3 main consequences:

  • Raise of sleep disorders,
  • Higher sugar intake at night,
  • Lack of phantasmagoria .
